Project overview
Kwijt (Lost) is a children’s book that blends adventure, emotion, and imagination into a rich and layered story. Written by Dutch author Mark Haayema, the book explores themes of searching, belonging, and the courage it takes to find one’s way — both literally and figuratively.

My role
I was responsible for the complete visual realization of the book: a large series of illustrations alongside the graphic design. My aim was to create an atmosphere that was adventurous yet tender, guiding readers visually through the emotional journey of the characters. The illustrations balance vibrant detail with space for imagination, while the book’s design ensures rhythm and accessibility across spreads.

Result
The book was published in the Netherlands and received praise for its evocative combination of narrative and imagery. With its layered storytelling and immersive visuals, Kwijt offers children a reading experience that is both adventurous and heartfelt.
