Project overview
For Galatea, a composition by the Dutch electronic jazz duo Trigg & Gusset, I created a full visual world in the form of a narrative animation. The project bridges music and illustration, translating the band’s layered, cinematic sound into a rich, atmospheric journey.

My role
I was responsible for the complete visual concept and execution: from storyboarding and character design to backgrounds, animation, and overall art direction. Inspired by the music’s dynamic shifts between tension, intimacy, and release, I built a dreamlike visual landscape that evolves in step with the score. Every element — movement, color palette, pacing — was designed to amplify the emotional arc of the piece.

Result
The final animation became an immersive audiovisual experience, praised for its ability to merge sound and image into one flowing narrative. It highlights how illustration and animation can extend the storytelling power of music, turning Galatea into both something to hear and something to see.
